1. Facts: The nervous system is divided into peripheral nervous system , which has afferent (sensory ) and efferent subdivisions , and central nervous system (CNS). Efferent neurons are either somatic motor neurons , which control skeletal muscles ,or autonomic neurons ,which control glands and smooth and cardiac muscles. Integration and Analysis: Patients with GBS can neither feel sensations nor move their muscles . This suggests a problem in both afferent and somatic motor neurons . However ,it is also possible that there is a problem in the CNS integrating center . You do not have enough information to determine which division is affected .
